THIS is my first podcast. I and three others speak about books that we like, where we like to read them, food that we like to eat while reading, and in what form we like our books to be in.

If you have any suggestions on how I can make make my podcast better feel free to let me know, but please be polite.

I hope that you enjoy.

Why Books are Good for You

Most bookworms don’t think of this because we don’t need motivation to read, but reading has many benefits to health. Reading for about six minutes a day has been shown to reduce stress by about 68%. Reading helps your brain function as you age. THIS article shows why reading books are beneficial, and the best way to read them.

Music and Books

Some people like silence while they read. I am not one of those people, I love listening to music while I read. I have an eclectic taste in music. My favorites are rock from the ’80s and  ’90s, ’90s and early 2000s pop, ’80s and ’90s country, and classical music. The picture above is of some of my favorite singers/bands. I find that music helps me relax and energizes me at the same time, and makes it possible to really experience the story I’m reading.

What about you? Do you like silence or listening to music while you read?

Right Kind of Adult Romance

I’ve posted about my wariness of adult romance because of the inappropriate content, but there is a type of adult romance that does not contain inappropriate content. It’s Christian romance. Christian romance actually deals with romance/love not empty lust. It shows what real love is. An example of this is A Time to Dance by Karen Kingsbury. A link to the kindle book is  HERE. It’s  a great book, I’ve read it twice. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Day or Night

Those of us who are “book addicts” read every chance we get, day or night. But have you ever wondered if you retain more when you read during the day or at night?

I’m a night owl, so I read most at night. It turns out that it’s a good thing that I do. According to an article on the brain learns best and retains the most information during the evening hours. Are you a day person or a night owl?

HERE’s the link to the webpage.

Tea or Coffee

Some book lovers argue that tea is best and others say coffee is. I personally love them both. I think the thing that should be considered when thinking of tea and coffee is which one is better for you.  The article included in this post says “coffee might have the ability to reduce the incidence of dementia or Alzheimer’s or even type 2 diabetes” and ” tea contains polyphenol compounds, which are antioxidants that might aid in cancer prevention.” Though the article does mention that there has not been enough studies done to say that tea for certain prevents cancer. What Should You Eat

Many of us find that it’s difficult not to eat at least a little something while reading. But are there foods that we should not eat while reading?

The writers of The Kitchen website say that there are. There are just some foods that make reading difficult and/or messy. The foods that you can eat with the least difficulty are those that only require you to use one hand. The writers of The Kitchen tried to read while eating various foods and posted their results of the best and the worst on their website, HERE is the link.

Rain or No Rain, That is the Question

         Rainy_days_by_Ronaaa                                                                           Photo found on

I’ve spoken to quite a few people about the things that they like while they’re reading. One question that I like is “Do you prefer it to be raining or clear while you read?”

For me when it comes to rain or clear skies, no matter the situation, I will always choose rain. I’m just one of those people that feels happiest and most energized when it’s gloomy. Some people have told me that they don’t like to read while it’s raining because it makes them sleepy. Other people, like me, feel sleepy when it’s sunny. From the information that I’ve gathered from people, sunny days are favored by more people.

Which one do you prefer, rainy or sunny?
